In 2021, the TREASURE network, active since 2006, will celebrate its 15th anniversary. This seminar aims to take stock of its activities and prepare for its anniversary which should take place in Algeria during 2021.

Background:
In 15 years of activity, the TREASURE network will have directly or indirectly trained twenty young researchers, mainly from the Maghreb. It will also have enabled the creation of 6 PHCs (UTIQUE, TASSILI and TOUBKAL) and contributed to 3 European projects. Scientific production, which we will refine during this seminar, reports nearly 60 articles in international newspapers and almost a hundred conferences ...

Goals
The objectives of this seminar are to take stock of past and future activities of the network at a time when global changes, population growth, drastic declines in biodiversity and quality water resources raise fears of major crises. . The Mediterranean region is one of the most fragile (sharp increase in population, lack of water, increase in pollution, heavy soil erosion, areas of passage for South Saharan populations pushed beyond their borders by armed conflicts). It is a region where Europe's neighborhood policy must be able to help meet these immense challenges in collaboration with African scientists and in general all the populations affected ...

The reuse of treated wastewater - a central object of research carried out in TREASURE - must be able to help resolve many of these questions at a time when the water / energy / food production nexus has never been so obvious.

It is time to take a first assessment - in the medium term - of the actions undertaken and the research that has been carried out over the past 15 years.

To prepare for a meeting which will take place in 2021 in Algeria, and which should bring together a minimum of 80 people working (or having worked) in the network in the past, this seminar will alternate time of presentations and time of exchanges.
