SIFER 2016 : an international week

From 25 to 29 April 2016, the fourth edition of SIFER welcome this year 23 trainees from from around the world: France, Spain, Belgium, Lithuania, UK, Germany, Finland, Japan and many others !

Organised since 2012 by the University of Lorraine and Research Centre Inra Nancy-Lorraine, in the frame of the Laboratory of Excellence ARBRE, this doctoral training course is now a reference on “stable isotopes for forest ecosystem research”.

Lectures, conferences, lab visit, computing exercises and practical works are planned. An intense but rich week for our 23 trainees ! They have started the week by introducing themselves their own PhD work, then managed an experimental work in small groups all over the week and they have presented the results to all their colleagues and trainers the last day.

This year again, the course ended on a high note with a hot topic. Matthias Saurer, researcher at the Paul Scherrer Institute (Switzerland) gave a conference on “Stable isotopes in tree-rings: from process-based studies to large spatial scales” on Friday 29 April at 11am in the conference room.

Driven by about twenty professor, researcher and technical staff of by the University of Lorraine and Research Centre Inra Nancy-Lorraine under the leadership of Daniel Epron and Nicolas Angeli, SIFER will celebrate 5 years of existence§ A nice opportunity to launch a new website and to make a film on the training.
