Molecular Biology and Parasitic Immunology (BIPAR)

BIPAR Unit
The Joint Research Unit for Molecular Biology and Parasitic Immunology (BIPAR JRU) was established in 1999. The activities of the JRU are divided between two major themes: Zoonotic food-borne parasites (helminths or protists) (PARALIM team); Arthropod vectors (mainly ticks) and vector-borne pathogens (bacteria, but also viruses and parasitic protists) (MiTick team).

Research

The current missions of BIPAR JRU for each of these themes are to contribute to the protection of animal and public health, in line with the "One Health" concept developed under the auspices of WHO, OIE and FAO. This objective integrates the development of effective cutting-edge methods of screening, diagnosis and surveillance, as well as the integrated control of infectious agents (especially zoonotic), emerging or not, present in domestic animals (particularly livestock) and / or in wildlife, through a better understanding of their transmission pathways and interactions.

Our research programs are also oriented towards more ecosystem-based approaches, which are always centered on exploring specific factors governing pathogen transmission and and interactions with hosts.
