QpiX 2XT

High throughput picking of bacteria and yeast with the QpiX 2XT robot

The Qpix 2XT robot is a very versatile tool allowing high throughput picking of a large amount of colonies (Picking software), replication and rearraying of 96 or 384 plates (replication/rearraying software) as well as gridding on Qtray from these plates (Gridding software).

The initial use of the robot was primarily its bacterial picking function which was very helpful in the construction of various ORF and GST libraries (ATOME and AGRIKOLA projects). The recent upgrade of the robot through the acquisition of replication and gridding software (SPS funding) extended its use to another domain (Interactome project) by automating each step of yeast two-hybrid screening (from pre-culture of candidates to the selection of interactants), and thus performing high throughput analysis of protein interactions.
