When air temperatures rise above the optimal level, plants initiate cooling mechanisms to prevent heat stress. To identify novel regulators of warm temperature signalling that are conserved in flowering plants, we mapped changes in protein phosphorylation in both dicots and monocots exposed to warm temperature. Altogether, identifying and functionally characterising conserved players involved in warm temperature-mediated signalling expands our knowledge of thermomorphogenesis and other cooling mechanisms beyond the well-studied pathways and can contribute to ensuring food security under a changing climate. Here, I will present our latest findings in this context.
