Plants have evolved immune receptors to detect pathogen virulence proteins. Surface‐localized pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) act to recognize microbial features, whereas intracellular nucleotide‐binding leucine‐rich repeat receptors (NLRs) directly or indirectly recognize pathogen effectors inside host cells. Here we report a specific mutation in a tomato (S. lycopersicum) nucleotide-binding domain leucine-rich repeat, SlNRC4a, which results in a gain of function constitutive basal defense activation, in absence of PRR activation.

In addition, we will describe an electrical plant-based dehydration sensor.
