The Swedish National Veterinary Institute (SVA) is a Swedish Government authority under the Ministry of Rural Affairs that strives for good animal and human health, a good environment and sustainable food production.

The Swedish National Veterinary Institute (SVA) is a Swedish Government authority under the Ministry of Rural Affairs and is the largest and only official laboratory in veterinary medicine in Sweden. Total number of employees is 400, and activities at the institute are focused on diagnostic work and advisory services, official services/governmental duties and commissioned research. The Department of Disease control and Epidemiology at SVA provides expert advice on contagious diseases in animals, including zoonoses, including investigations and programmes for their control. The Department is responsible for the design, implementation and evaluation of active surveillance on statutory diseases as well as other infectious agents of national concern.

Head of the Swedish Zoonosis Centre at the Department of Disease Control and Epidemiology.

Dr. A. Lindberg is a veterinary epidemiologist with interest in surveillance and disease control in general. She is responsible for epidemiological studies on Q fever in Sweden. She is involved in WP1.

Dr. A. Aspán is senior scientist at the section of molecular diagnostics, department of bacteriology, with expertise in molecular characterization and molecular epidemiology of animal pathogens and zoonotic agents. She is involved in WP1.

Jenny Frössling

Dr. J. Frössling is a veterinary epidemiologist at the Section of Epizootology, Department of Disease Control and Epidemiology where her work involves design and evaluation of surveillance systems, including spatio-temporal methods.

SaraAkerstrom

Sara Åkerström

Sara Åkerström is a research engineer at the Section of Molecular Diagnostics, Department of Bacteriology. She has a Phd degree in virology, and joined SVA in October 2011 to work with Coxiella. She will perform the fragment analysis on the samples collected in MIHMES (WP1).

StefanWidgren

Stefan Widgren

Stefan Widgren is a veterinary epidemiologist at the Swedish Zoonosis Centre, Department of Disease Control and Epidemiology. He is doing a PhD on VTEC infections in cattle. He focuses on diagnostic test evaluation, dynamic modeling and analyses based on animal movement data.
