Oomycetes

Oomycetes are a very important class of plant parasites. they cause a great loss of crop production worldwide. These plant pathogens are capable of secreting RXLR-dEER effector proteins from haustoria into the extracellular space, then these effectors cross the plant plasma membrane and reach the plant cytoplasm. The mechanism of this translocation is still unknown. It is thought that the mechanism could be similar to the passage of virulence effectors from the malaria parasite (plasmodium sp.) into the red blood cells
